What is Helvetian Brushes?
Helvetian Brushes is a Swiss miniature painting community and Verein dedicated to promoting artistic growth through workshops, events and collaborative hobby activities.
Do I need to be an experienced painter to participate?
Not at all. Our events and workshops welcome painters of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced artists.
Where are events usually held?
Most workshops and community events take place in the Zürich area, primarily in Wettswil am Albis. Locations may vary depending on the type of event.
How do your workshops work?
We invite international award winning artists to teach focused, high quality workshops. Each workshop may include theory, demonstrations, guided exercises and personal feedback
What is included in the workshop price?
It depends on the event, but typically includes a plinth, basing materials, access to tools and any consumables listed in the workshop description.
Do I need to bring my own miniatures or tools?
Most workshops require you to NOT bring prepared miniatures as they are provided, but always check the description of the Workshop. You will need to bring your own brushes, wet-palette (if you use one), and all painting material. Depending on the workshop maybe some sculpting or hobby tools. A detailed kit list is always provided on the workshop page
Are workshops suitable for beginners?
Most of our workshops are designed for intermediate painters, but beginners with motivation and basic understanding of miniature painting can still benefit. Each instructor sets their own difficulty level.
What language are workshops taught in?
Workshops are typically taught in English unless otherwise specified.
Do workshops include painting, basing or both?
It depends on the instructor. Some focus on composition or basing, others on painting techniques. The workshop page will always clarify the content.
Payments, Refunds & Responsibilities
How do I pay for a workshop?
Payments are made directly to the instructor, either via Bank Transfer or PayPal, depending on the workshop.
Helvetian Brushes does not process payments for these events.
Why are payments made directly to the instructor?
This ensures the artist receives full compensation for their work and allows us to bring international teachers at fair rates.
Do you accept credit card payments?
Credit card payments are available through WooCommerce for some events, but for most workshops payment is made directly to the instructor (Bank Transfer or PayPal).
Is my seat reserved once I register?
Your seat is temporarily reserved for 7 days. It is only confirmed after the instructor receives your payment. Unpaid reservations are automatically cancelled after 7 days.
Can I request a refund if I cannot attend?
Refund requests must be addressed directly to the instructor, since they are the payment recipient.
Helvetian Brushes cannot issue refunds nor intervene in financial disputes.
What happens if the instructor cancels the workshop?
If the teacher must cancel for any reason, they will handle all refunds directly with participants.
Helvetian Brushes will assist with communication but is not financially responsible for refunds.
Is Helvetian Brushes liable for payment issues?
No. Payments are made directly to the instructor and Helvetian Brushes acts solely as the organizer and facilitator of the event.
What happens if I arrive late or miss part of the workshop?
Attendance is the responsibility of each participant. Missed sessions cannot be refunded or rescheduled unless agreed directly with the instructor.
